Perl Exception

Challenge

When running perl-scripts, like the oracle opmn command, you receive the following error:
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
    LANGUAGE = (unset),
    LC_ALL = (unset),
    LC_CTYPE = "UTF-8",
    LANG = "en_US.UTF-8"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

Solution

Add the following lines to your script or your profile (like .bash_profile):
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8
export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
